Hops
We look forward to expanding our hopyard to support the demand of our local craft beer industry.
The Roost planted its first acre of Chinook hops in spring of 2018. After three years of nurturing, we can’t wait to harvest the fruits of our labour in the 2020 growing season and look forward to supporting the demand of our local craft beer industry.
In 2018, The Roost was also the proud recipient of an Eastern Ontario Development Fund grant, awarded to us by the Kawartha Lakes Community Futures Development Corporation, which supported us in the purchase of a custom hop harvester. The harvester is an integral piece of machinery in our business development and we couldn’t be more grateful to our funders for their support.
Our hops are grown with the same philosophy as the rest of our farm production. We are committed to sustainable, ecologically responsible farm practices, and while we are not certified organic, we strive to maintain organic standards for all of our crop production.
Hops are available for harvest in late August-early September. Contact us to find out about harvest dates and availability.
